910 Crawl Space Pros

A crawl space company in Wilmington, NC

910 Crawl Space Pros is a crawl space company serving Wilmington and New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties. We work on one type of space, in one region, on one set of problems: moisture, what it does to framing, and what it takes to stop it.

What we actually do

Encapsulation, vapor barriers, drainage, dehumidification, mold remediation, insulation and the structural repair that becomes necessary when moisture has been left alone long enough. Fourteen services, all of them under the house.

In practice that means vapor barrier installation and crawl space repair jobs across Wilmington, Leland, Hampstead and Castle Hayne, and crawl space moisture control on the barrier islands from Wrightsville Beach down to Carolina Beach — the same specification everywhere, adjusted for flood zones and salt air where the coast demands it.

We do not do roofing, HVAC replacement or general contracting. A company that does everything is not better at crawl spaces for it.

The order matters more than the sales pitch

Most failed crawl space work we are called to look at failed on sequence rather than materials. A liner installed over a crawl space that still takes on groundwater traps the water underneath it, where it cannot evaporate and cannot be seen.

So the order is fixed: water first, then anything structural, then remediation, then the liner, then conditioning. Where that means the quote is larger than a competitor who skipped a step, we would rather explain why than win on a number.

Standards, not adjectives

The specification we work to is public and checkable. Reinforced liner of 12–20 mil meeting ASTM E1745, which is the standard covering vapor retarders in crawl spaces. A Class I vapor retarder at 0.1 perms or below. Unvented crawl spaces conditioned per IRC R408.3, because sealing without conditioning is what gives encapsulation its bad reputation.

On the coast we also work to NFIP flood-opening requirements, because a large share of New Hanover and Brunswick county properties sit in AE or VE zones and a sealed crawl space must not compromise the openings the foundation depends on in a flood.

Why this region specifically

Crawl space advice written for a dry inland climate is close to useless here. Ventilating a crawl space assumes outside air is drier than the air under the house; on the Cape Fear coast, for most of the year, it is not. Advanced Energy carried out closed-crawl-space field research in North Carolina on real houses, and that body of work — rather than a national rule of thumb — is what our approach follows.

Published pricing, and what we will tell you not to buy

Our price ranges are on the website because you should not have to book a visit to find out whether you are looking at a $5,000 job or a $12,000 one.

We will also tell you when not to buy. If your crawl space is dry, clean and holding below 60% relative humidity, encapsulation is not urgent and we will say so. If the budget covers a liner but not the drainage the space needs, the honest answer is drainage now and the liner later — not a cheaper encapsulation that traps water.
